Hello and welcome. This picture is of us on the Larapinta Trail, where our beautiful friendship began and this is our story.
Angie is a passionate yoga teacher who, when not teaching yoga and planning beautiful retreats, supports people with special needs. She has a joyful heart. Kristina is a meditation teacher and writer with a deep desire to expand love in the world, one breath at a time. She holds space for people to heal through somatic practices and her writing.
We met on the Larapinta Trail, and bonded over our love of nature. Our hearts filled with awe over every wildflower and artistic gallery nature offered through shrubs, grass, rock, water patterns, gorges and trees. The purl of our laughter alongside our oohs and aāhs echoed along the trail bringing laughter and joy to those around us. We are humble humans, who realised we were earth sisters. Joyously, we were encouraged by the lovely people we met on the trail to create a unique retreat experience together. And so, from laughter and heartfelt intention aāh retreats was born.
That's us! We look forward to meeting you to hear all about your story, laugh with you, ooh and aāh together about the beauty of nature, and share glorious aāh retreat experiences with you.
aāh is a sacred seed sound. An origin sound holding the concentration of energy. This beautiful soft vowel is the sound of the heart chakra and contains the energy of peace and compassion. When we chant aāh, we generate peace and compassion within and around us.
Our retreats will begin and finish with this beautiful aāh sound. We will always welcome you with peace and compassion, and when returning home we will send you off with these beautiful transformative energies.
aāh is also the expression of surprise and delight. This is the essence of aāh retreats: to surprise and delight. aāh is the sound we make when we sigh deeply, settling gently and safely into our body.
We deliberately spelt it with a double 'a' and used a macron on the second 'a' to emphasise the length of this beautiful sound. We hope you enjoyed learning a little about the intention behind our name. We hope each of your days begin with an aāh: the sound of the heart.
We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land where we love, live and retreat. We pay our respects to Elders, past, present and emerging for they hold the stories, memories, traditions and ongoing sovereignty. May we all acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the beautiful lands which hold us.
